🍉 SEAN ONO LENNON - AMA - ASK ME ANYTHING - Here - on Thursday 19 September - Midday ET / 9am PT / 5pm UK / 1am Tokyo

I think she was happy.
(Correcting this post to add link) If anyone has not read this 1981 Rolling Stone article with Yoko, it's well worth reading (a lot of good insights and cool info about JL and their relationship) "He discovered in me not the differences between men and women but the similarities. And I discovered in him the humanness of men. And through him, I finally learned to tune in to people other than myself." https://web.archive.org/web/2023031...ono-cover-story-john-lennon-death-1234681088/

Hey I want to say that I'm trying my best to answer everything but there are more questions than I anticipated. I may sound glib at times but I'm just trying to type quickly. I'm getting a bit tired though so I think I'll be done in 20 mins or so.

I really enjoy talking to everyone and am grateful we're building this community!

Also sorry if I miss you question but the format makes it difficult to see them all.

In the future please keep the posts succinct so I can get to the point asap.

Cheers!

S.

Sean thanks for taking the time to do this. Big fan of Asterisms. Really didn't know what to expect with something so experimental but I really dig it and find myself putting it on semi-regularly. Friendly Fire is another one I enjoy throwing on when I'm in the right mood. A couple of questions, choose one or choose all:

1. Maybe 10-12 years ago there was a rumor going around that James McCartney had reached out to (I believe) you, Dhani Harrison and Zak Starkey about creating an album from the "Beatles children". I think it was said it jest, but seeing Primose Hill released this year made me think about it again. Ever given any thought to recording a track with the other 3?

2. Do you have a favorite song or album from Julian, and has he ever mentioned a song or album of yours that he particularly enjoys?

3. Kind of a weird question but I am fascinated about the fact that so many books and documentaries have been written about the Beatles and your dad, Paul, George and Ringo. There are books that literally document what the Beatles were doing on virtually every day in the 60's and beyond. My question with the caveat that I'm not actually asking you to share any: are there stories you've heard about your father and/or his former bandmates that the public does not know but fans would find interesting if they did know? Similarly, are there things that Beatles fans treat as fact that aren't actually true?

Thanks again for taking the time and thanks for the art you have given the world.
1) Yeah no that was just a rumor.
2) My fav album pretty much is Mr. Jordan.
3) This is not the best format for in depth story telling. Too many questions to get to.

Sean, my all-time ultimate dream new Beatles project would be a new sequel to the Yellow Submarine movie... Octopus's Garden. Ideally the animation and the Beatles would look the same as the original, but with a new story and plot, modern 3D computer animated technology, and once again utilize voice actors as was done in the original. With the recent release of the new Beetlejuice sequel providing an example of this type of project being done, do you think something like this could be possible??

That would be amazing.

Don't worry, we are happy to have this opportunity anyway! Thank you, thank you! ❤️

Hi Sean!

Thank you so much for providing us with this opportunity! Very grateful and looking forward to setting aside time to read your responses tomorrow! 😊
I hope there's some questions here which are new and/or thought-provoking from the usual things you're probably asked about!

Your drawing that served as the cover of Double Fantasy Stripped Down is an amazing work, and I really enjoy your distinctive cross-hatching style in it! Do you still do those kinds of drawings, and/or can we expect to see more along those lines in future releases or available as standalone prints?

Will there be more releases on Secretly Canadian (or Chimera, or other label) where we'll see your mom's post-Apple albums back in print? It would be great to have her '80s albums definitively remastered and available once again!

You curate plenty of fantastic and in-depth physical releases which really speak to the collectors' eye for detail (thank you by the way!!) - do you have a particular preferred medium for listening to music, or is it a little of everything?

2024 has sure been a busy year for you - the blissful Asterisms, becoming an Oscar winner, working the projects of both your parents, and even finding time to play with the Lemon Twigs! - how do you manage to get it all done!?

Besides using Lumenate, are there any practices or hobbies (meditative or otherwise) that you enjoy doing for your mental health? I'm always curious to hear what others do as part of their self-care routine.

Thanks again, Sean!
Thanks I haven't drawn much lately but I do love it.
We're still working on finishing those releases.
I prefer vinyl always if possible.
I honestly don't know. Sometimes I get overwhelmed.
Early morning meditation facing the sun is important I think. I don't always do it but when I do my day is better. Getting sun in your eyes and on your skin before you start your day is important.

Hey Sean! When can we expect a new CLD album????? I absolutely love what you guys do together. Such a great band! Also, want to say I really love ASTERISMS!

I am curious... What do you think of Dhani's music? Have you listened to Innerstanding and Dreamers In The Field, and have you ever considered working with him?
Dhani's great. Love his stuff. Delirium III coming soon.

Hello Sean,
Hope you're well (and all of your family..)
Thank you for the AMA and everything you have done, do and plan to do concerning your parents material and legacy.
You've truly put out some amazing things and as well as with your own music!
I have a few questions, and please don't feel like you must answer them all. I'll be content with just one or two of whichever ones.
My questions are random as... but here we go:

-Do you do/enjoy other forms of art such as drawing or painting?

-What is one of the funniest things you remember your Dad doing or saying?

-Do you happen to know how your dad ended up going to the AFI Tribute to James Cagney? Was he a fan of his movies/old American movies in general (a favorite?)?

Thank you for your time and any answers! Take care and all the best!
✌️🤍😎

Hello Sean! Hope you and Yoko are doing great.
My question is, do you remember a distinct moment where maybe john showed you the beatles, or maybe after he was gone you grasped or realized that he was in such a big thing? Even if not as a beatle, just on his own. Was there a particular track that you maybe associate with that from either his solo career or the group years?
Thanks for doin' this for us, and "raising the spirit of peace and love" and keeping your dads spirit alive.
-Have a splendid day
It was slowly over time. Theres a recording of him talking to me about it. But when he died and all the people came to the park singing all day and night, that's hen I first realized the scope of it.

Thank you for this forum, and for taking the time to answer questions, Sean. Friendly Fire is one of my favorite all-time albums, along with Double Fantasy! Do you have any specific memories of being in Bermuda with your father?

The Helmet is a toy someone made. It's a built in radio and headphones. Some gadget that was just for fun. As for footage I don't know exactly. Just wrapping my head around the archive slowly but surely.

Thanks! Quick follow up question. What is John saying in the "Aisumasen" video while wearing the helmet?

Hi Sean! I have two questions:
1 - Which song from "Mind Games" you were excited to remaster?
2- You recently worked with James McCartney. How was the experience, and do you think you'd like to work on more songs with him?

James and I had a great time working together. And sure I'm always open to things.

My fav song is the title track. And I think we improved Aisumasen a lot.

Hi Sean, longtime fan of your dad and … well I suppose, your entire family! I’m really looking forward to a Sometime In NYC Ultimate Collection. I know several people who also are, as well. Are there any plans to release it or to get all that great remastered music from that era to the fans, or should we just give up? I know a bit of it will be available on the docs, but we’d like an audio companion. Thanks for all you do. Be blessed.
We want to put everything out we can. I may start skipping questions that I've already answered however.
