John was really a misunderstood person. He did plenty of bad things which of course can’t be forgotten nor forgiven, but his childhood didn’t help. I’m so glad he met Paul, who was able to cool him down and make him realise he wasn’t alone, and who helped him through his insecurities — during his “fat Elvis” period in 1965 for instance. It’s so sad that he never got to see the actual impact he had on the world, on us, he really thought — and Paul said so many times — that once he’d be dead, he’d be forgotten. I hope he can see from the sky how we miss him and wish he were here
