We're getting closer and closer to the release of POWER TO THE PEOPLE, and the anticipation continues to build!

Of the box set's massive 123 tracks, what track is your very favorite? Or, of the previously unheard and unreleased tracks, which do you most look forward to hearing? Is there a particular version included that you are most excited about?

Considering the wealth of material in the box, feel free to post any number of times about any track/version that appeals to you!

The recording I might be most looking forward to in the box is the live acoustic rendition of 'Imagine' from December 1971 at the Apollo. This has been on some long out-of-print John releases, where I first heard it as a young and enthusiastic fan. It is probably my favorite recording of the song, actually!

It's a precious gem of a performance - the way the guitars and Yoko's drum reverberate off the walls and make it sound so cavernous, as John proudly sings and plays with such intensity and meaning. I always picture it as a moment in which he becomes a true folk troubadour like Woody Guthrie or Phil Ochs, who were no doubt influential on such an idealistic mindset.

I also love the way the audience applauses after the first 'yoo-hoo,' but perhaps most of all, I've always been so taken by his little insert after "Imagine no possessions," where he quietly but painfully says "I'm trying to." It's an incredible moment, where John the singer and John the man have a dialogue right there on the stage. It put into perspective for me how "Imagine" is not just a song of hope, but a standing testament of what we aspire to be; how John the man felt personally accountable to try and hold himself to the standards that John the artist so beautifully put into song.

That kind of honesty, integrity, and resilience is an incredible and immutable part of why John has been and always will be my very favorite musician - and it's all right there in those two and a half minutes. I'm so glad this recording will be available again in POWER TO THE PEOPLE.

Loved the Shout Out to Elvis! We Luv you Elvis!

Come Together has always been my favorite Beatles song, and is probably my favorite of what’s included. I’m looking forward to hearing the remixed afternoon performance.
As far as the NYC tracks, I’ll go with John Sinclair. Really amped about hearing an extended ending on there, at least I hope that’s what is meant by extended. I completely fell in love with the album when I first got it, and that song in particular I felt was really starting to cook when it faded out. So I’ll be thankful if I can hear more.

What video from the concert will they release on John's birthday? My heart wants IMAGINE, but it could be Cold Turkey, one of the many highlights of the concert with its EXTREMELY rock ā€œnā€ roll instrumental, featuring guitarist Wayne Tex Gabriel. I REALLY need to hear this at the highest volume possible here at home. And also see it on my 4K.

Well said and oh, so true! šŸ‘

Every single song so far has been my favourite on my first listen to the new release, haha, but the Yoko songs like BORN IN A PRISON and MOVE ON FAST have been a revelation with the live energy and the wonderful remastering. This is genuinely one of the best live album presentations I've experienced with it keeping the feeling of actually being in the audience.

Instant Karma is the Best!

Btw. There's a Kid about here who's got some music you might like!

Just waiting for The Kid to give the word Go!
;)

John Sinclair did not let me down whatsoever. Matter of fact, I think this is probably now in my Top 10 John songs. I love this so much, it's worth the whole set to me. The rest of the Ultimate Mixes disc is awesome as well, but without the original single, well, John Sinclair is my favorite on the album. NYC rocks as well. Glad to have these mixes.

As of right now:

1. Mother - no explanation needed! His vocals nearly had my parents in tears too when I played the One to One film for them. The passion he has is other worldly 🄲

2. Sunday Bloody Sunday - the remix puts such a strong emphasis on John’s background vocals and I am IN LOVE! The video has such an important message as well that we need to be sharing EVERYWHERE!

3. Born in a Prison/Don’t Worry Kyoko - I have to admit they’re growing on me the more Iisten, the live versions got me good!!

I’ve always loved New York City. However, this live version just as the concert kicks off takes me right to Madison Square Garden and it’s the closest I’ll ever get to a John Lennon live performance. The feeling is unbelievable and makes me want to cry that I wasn’t there that day. If I close my eyes I’m there - that’ll have to do. It’s given the song a new lease of life for me!

I was at the afternoon concert, and it's great to hear the powerful ending to ā€˜Born in a Prison’ again, as Yoko chillingly screams, ā€œLet Me Outā€ twice, responding to the sax - followed by, ā€œI’ll see you outside the prison, mates!ā€

Wow, what an experience! It must have been so wonderful to witness all of that. I already felt everything with the documentary alone. I can't imagine what it must have been like to witness something as beautiful as being in the concert, which was historic for me, how much magic and feeling there was šŸ¤
