Why was the Deluxe Box taken off iTunes?

I went to iTunes today to check on the Power To The People Deluxe box on iTunes, where it had been available for pre-order for $79.99. It’s still there, but there are no tracks listed!!

The release date is not until October 10th.
What is the point of pre-ordering music downloads?
It's not like there will be a limited number, they won't run out of them.

Why would anyone want to pay for something today they can't listen to for three more weeks?

I'm sure iTunes will be happy to sell you the downloads when they become available.
