Well we all know he was planning to come back to the music scene after taking care of Sean so perhaps he wouldāve done itIām Losing You is a great rocker, and Iād have loved to have seen it performed (maybe alongside Yoko going into her brilliant Iām Moving On). Itās quite hard to imagine any of Johnās songs on Double Fantasy done live, though.
I wonder if Lennon live in the 80s would take any cues from the emergent progressive live music scene - with theatrics like Floydās Wall Tour? I know Lennon was always into straight rock and roll when performing (instruments-amps-musicians-microphones-audience) but I can see Yoko reawakening the performance artist within him for live concerts!
Fantastic idea - it's such a good song live in any case! I love the idea of updated lyrics, no doubt any rendition of Come Together would include whatever was in John's head at the moment tooI would have loved to see him bring back 'New York City,' more than likely with updated lyrics. He updated 'Imagine' to great effect, I'd love to know the different people and places he would have swapped out!
It really is! Such a great track! I always thought of it as 'The Ballad of John and Yoko, Part 2', same kind of Chuck Berry-styled up-tempo rocker with a linear story narrative. It's a perfect way to get a concert going! 1980-era lyrics with it would be just great. You're totally right, 'Come Together' with essentially any lyrics would be phenomenal!Fantastic idea - it's such a good song live in any case! I would definitely love to see him sing some of the Beatles live like Paul and Ringo do, maybe Twist and Shout, Love Me Do, even In My Life!!!!! Solo, I would love Cold Turkey, Imagine (of course lol), Mind Games, Woman, How Do You Sleep?, BLESS YOU BECAUSE IT'S MY FAVORITE, Gimme Some Truth, God, I know (I Know), Jealous Guy, (Just Like) Starting Over, NOW AND THEN... That's too many. How about rephrasing the question a little bit - if you could go to a John Lennon live concert now, what would be your dream setlist?

Now that's a hard one!
If I think about a live performance after 1980, I'd expect he'd start it with (Just Like) Starting Over and that would be the one I'd chose as well... Maybe he'd do something like Paul does nowadays, a mix between solo and Beatles period, if he ever did a world tour many years later. I'd love to listen to Oh My Love, Come Together, In My Life, Revolution, Imagine, Angela, Mind Games, #9 Dream, Woman, Strawberry Fields Forever. Most of them would probably be very complicated to perform live, but this a Utopia like John used to imagine so Maybe we'd have gotten to experience a complete version of Now And Then, maybe he'd have finished that one himself. Btw, totally extraordinary, out of this world, extremely emotional to see Paul McCartney performing the Beatles version of Now And Then live, one can just feel how he was doing that for John.
Starting Over would be SO great and just imagine singing Imagine with him, what a thrillā¦What a difficult question because I remember how much we lost without John here. I would love to see him play the Double Fantasy songs that were timeless for the time and the most emotional one for obvious reasons. Imagine him singing Starting Over? Wow, that gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
Difficult question right? So many songs coming in mindā¦ him playing with his former bandmates wouldāve been amazing as wellI would definitely love to see him sing some of the Beatles live like Paul and Ringo do, maybe Twist and Shout, Love Me Do, even In My Life!!!!! Imagine singing with him in a packed stadium, wow...Starting Over would be SO great and just imagine singing Imagine with him, what a thrillā¦
YES YES YES TRUEOh I NEED to hear Youāve Got To Hide Your Love Away live!! Imagine him getting the audience to chant all of the āheyās!ā along with himā¦I would be weeping
And Now & Then of course as a duet with Paul, that would heal me
wouldāve loved to hear him play ābless you.āView attachment 1861
