My Mind Can Feel - The John&Yoko Book Club

Hi, everybody! Welcome to a new activity here at the Citizen of Nutopia forum!

Understanding how much John&Yoko fans are engaged in reading, and having realized how most of us don’t have anybody to talk to about the fascinating world we dive into whenever we are getting to know more about the two iconic figures we love, I had the idea of starting a Book Club here!

Now, thank you to the John Lennon Estate, we have this forum where we can discuss all things John&Yoko with like-minded people, so let’s make good use of it and have a great time together!

Here we will read and talk about new books, revisit old ones, get to know each other more, celebrate our two favorite artists and who knows, maybe share a few moments with the authors of our favorite books! Always focused on John&Yoko.

In order to keep the navigation in the forum simple, this will be an organized project so read the information on this text to comprehend how it will happen.

This project has an actual book club organization, with selected periods, dates and books. We’ll be focused on discussing the books we’ll be currently reading (take a look at the schedule below). I have already organized a few dates and I’ll always indicate on which page of the thread the ongoing conversation is happening. The books will always be selected in advance so everybody interested in reading with us we’ll have the time to purchase or find them. Now and then we’ll have simultaneous conversations about more than one book to work along with the new releases. Between a lengthier reading and another, the idea is to dedicate ourselves to photographs books and have lighter chats. Longer books will require longer periods on the schedule, especially since some of us don’t live in the USA or UK and we have to wait for the books to be delivered.

You don’t have to finish the book to talk about it here! Feel free to share with us your thoughts on a page, quote or chapter that interested you and that you’d like to know what everybody else thinks.

Wanting to create a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for everybody, the books were and will be chosen taking in consideration the topics addressed in them, to guarantee a nice and uncomplicated reading. No books on disrespectful and untruthful subjects will be selected. This is a community, please be respectful towards your fellow Nutopians and their opinions, as well as towards the Ono-Lennons.

🗓️ Current schedule:

Mind Games standalone book - From Sept 24th to Nov 15th;

We All Shine On: John, Yoko and Me - by Elliot Mintz - From Oct 22nd to Nov 30th;

Dream Lovers | John and Yoko in NYC - by Brian Hamill - From Dec 1st to Dec 15th.

In celebration of the absolutely brilliant and successful Mind Games Ultimate Collection we will start the Book Club by reading and discussing together the new Mind Games standalone book that will be out this Tuesday!

The book was produced by the John Lennon Estate and features rare photographs, interesting and well researched information and exclusive interviews with the people that were there in 1973 working with J&Y.

Life's Fragile Moments - by Julian Lennon - Out now in Germany, wider release next month in Europe and out in America later in the fall.

Although we won't discuss it here inside the John&Yoko Book Club, we will soon start a new thread to celebrate and talk about Julian's book. Meanwhile, take a look at the book here!

I hope this will be fun, entertaining and make us all feel that we are not alone, we can share our loves and interests. We are all together - in Nutopia. 🏳️

I chose this name - My Mind Can Feel - because I wanted something related to both John and Yoko, not a reference to only one of them. This sentence comes from a song they wrote together: Oh My Love was written by the couple in 1968 and recorded later for the Imagine album. John Lennon said: "A joy to write and a joy to sing and record. Written with Yoko - based on her original lyric - we finished it very quickly one late night together, the beginning of the melody being started last year [...] In this song, you can hear the classical influence of Yoko has influenced me on this. And this is 80% her lyric and 50% her tune." - From the Imagine book by the Lenono Estate, 2018.

And there's some kind of synesthesia in this. We usually associate feelings and emotions with the imagery of our hearts; in that verse both John and Yoko bring an intellectual perspective to the feeling, as well as a sentimental imagery to the mind - which I particularly think makes a lot of sense with what we'll do here at the Book Club. While reading and discussing the books on John&Yoko our minds will feel.

Also, as we are in the Mind Games era, there's nothing better than to exercise the mind and have a mind related title. ✌🏻🤍

Very excited for this!! Can't wait to participate! Thanks for your time and dedication to organizing this, Mariana! Fantastically organized and sure to be a great experience for everyone who will get involved! ☺️
Thank you so much! It's my pleasure really! Nothing makes me happier than to talk about John&Yoko and bring the fans together to share more love ❤️

Here are the links that work worldwide - so wherever you are in the world, it finds your nearest Amazon bookstore:

John Lennon & Yoko Ono: Mind Games
Elliot Mintz: We All Shine On
Brian Hamill: Dream Lovers: John & Yoko in NYC
Julian Lennon: Life's Fragile Moments

Julian's book is beautiful and very worthy of appreciation and discussion.
Thank you so much, GDN! 🤍🙏

About Julian's book, I agree 100%! I'm so excited and looking forward to it, it had to be the one to start the book club's "book suggestions" segment. About discussing it here at the forum, do you think we should include it in the My Mind Can Feel schedule or start another thread in the "Off Topic" section? What do you suggest? (I might be taking the "John&Yoko" thread a bit too literally).

Maybe you're right - let's keep this thread for John and Yoko, and then let's definitely celebrate Julian's beautiful book in a separate thread.

As our friend Good Dog Nigel said: Happy Mind Games standalone book Launch Day! 🙌🏻🤍

The long waited (I have been excitingly waiting for a YEAR) book is finally here! From what I've seen, the book is HUGE and I have no doubt that it is another Ultimate Collection masterpiece. The books the John Lennon Estate give to us (yes, give because they are GIFTS to every fan) every re-release are my favorites! And honestly what's better than to have a book organized and researched by the people that have access to everything that there is to have access to!

Sadly, my copy hasn't arrived yet, but feel free to already start the conversations about it! Share your favorite facts, information, interviews and opinions. Also remember not to ruin the magic for those who haven't got the book yet, so maybe don't post a lot of the rare photos for now... You can also use the spoiler button. Let's make everybody interested in joining the conversation and getting the book for their collections!

If you copy hasn't arrived yet as well, or if you haven't purchased it yet, take a look at some sneak peaks on the book here!

And let's all keep on playing those mind games, now reading about them!

The book JOHN & YOKO MIND GAMES: Thames & Hudson shows the magic that Mind Games is. It's not just a cool album with good music, it's something which was John and Yoko's life. And reading the entire context in which the album was born shows how Sean and Estate knew how to maintain what John liked. Seeing what John thought, why he thought it and how he conveyed it in his art is beautiful to see and experience now, with all Nutopia, meditation, the union of the fandom... This what Mind Games serves beyond the sound. Being able to be immersive in this way brings us closer to the couple and their lives at time, to the ART of Ono and Lennon.

My favorite part was
the collages of John's diaries where he showed his opinions and the reasons why, I've never seen anything like that before and if we have that in every album... My God! How incredible to see this.

Please, get your copy if you can! ❤️

This is a provisional design, I’m creating an exclusive one for the Book Club. This is a non-profitable project and it’s a dynamic dedicated to the fans.

This is so ingenious, cannot wait ! 😊

I was just searching to see if anyone had made a John Lennon inspired anime and came across this book
