🎧 Yoko’s underrated songs

Yoko is a massively underrated lyricist in my opinion. An example:

“Wood becomes a flute when it's loved,
Reach for yourself and your battered mates.
Mirror becomes a razor when it's broken,
Look in the mirror and see your shattered fate.”

Beautiful and brilliant.

The performance of ‘Born in a Prison’ live in NYC in 1972 with John joining in harmony is for me one of John’s best vocal lines. Sings raw and maximises his strengths as a singer.

Great record!

Can you add your opinions on her underrated songs?

Love the photo!

It’s hard to pinpoint exact songs given really all of Yoko’s music is so under appreciated, so my ‘cheat’ answer is to say her 1996 album Rising (which also features @Sean !).

If it has to be just songs, Moonbeams from Take Me to the Land of Hell and Rising II from Blueprint for a Sunrise are both standouts on their respective albums ✨

Most of Starpeace, admittedly Hell In Paradise gets its fair share of praise but songs like Sky People, It's Gonna Rain (one of if not my all time favourite Yoko songs), You & I, I Love All Of Me are fantastic.
I also think O'Oh is very under-appreciated, its got a great groove to it, just very gentle and great !!
