I just wanted to drop my thoughts down on how 2024 has gone as a fan of John, Yoko and the music.
As a fan of John, Yoko and The Beatles, I have to say that @Sean and the team behind the John Lennon Estate have done an incredible job keeping the legacy of John & Yoko alive in 2024. It’s amazing how they’ve not only honored John and Yoko’s work but also made it feel so fresh and relevant for today’s modern world.
First off, in 2024 the Mind Games (Ultimate Collection) release has been absolutely stunning. I’ve always loved the album, it’s always been an underrated album for me, but hearing it with these new mixes is like falling in love with it all over again. The box set is packed with everything a fan could want: ultimate mixes, raw studio takes, outtakes, and even an “Evolution Documentary” that walks you through how the songs came to life. The 136-page book included in the set is like a treasure chest—it’s filled with rare photos, handwritten lyrics, and personal letters from the archives. You can tell so much love and care went into making this collection.
And then there’s the Super Deluxe Box Set, which is just mind-blowing. It’s so much more than just music—it’s an experience. Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to get one myself but from all the videos and reviews of the unboxing etc. It’s an absolute masterpiece and that is why it has been nominated for a Grammy. Just let that sink in, wow. Again, I couldn’t think of a better way to carry on their work. From the limited-edition artwork reproductions and hologram-engraved EP to the replica Nutopian Embassy plaque and I-Ching coins, every detail has been thought out. The Zoetrope picture discs are just one of the impressive things ever, and the entire package feels like a celebration of John and Yoko’s artistry, creativity, and cultural impact. I can’t really do it more justice in the written word than that.
Now, the Escape to Nutopia game—this is where they’ve really taken things to the next level. The game lets you step into John’s shoes (and glasses!) and actually live his life in the Dakota apartment. Yes, even as a naked John! Exploring the Dakota through his eyes is such a surreal, intimate, and beautiful experience. The attention to detail is incredible—it’s like stepping into history. It makes you feel closer to John, not just as a musician, but as a person. I couldn’t help but dream about how amazing it would be if they turned this into a full VR experience someday . Imagine being able to immerse yourself completely in John’s world. This game is already such a brilliant step in that direction.
None of this would be possible without Simon Hilton and the team at Loud Beings. You can feel their passion and dedication in every project. They’ve managed to capture the essence of John and Yoko’s work while presenting it in ways that feel fresh and exciting. They clearly understand what made their art and message so special, and they’ve gone above and beyond to bring it to life in new and innovative ways.
As a fan, I’m blown away by everything Sean and the Estate have done this year. It’s not just about re-releasing music—it’s about keeping the spirit of John and Yoko alive and in the echoes of your mind. They’ve reminded us of their message of peace, love, and creativity in ways that continue to inspire.
A heartfelt thank you to you all. Can’t wait for 2025 and what is next! @Good Dog Nigel @Sean
